RLR Laundry Treatment is an amazing cure for stinky, leaky diapers that may be in need of stripping. It provides strong deep cleaning of the fibers, removing dried-in minerals, urine deposits and detergent residue. It also works well with hard water, pulling the built-up minerals out of the fibers and rinsing them away. It is phosphate-free, free of fragrance, non-polluting and biodegradable. The main ingredient of RLR is a strong concentration of sodium carbonate.
RLR helps remove buildup from the fabric which often causes repelling, leaking and odor issues.
RLR is safe to use with most cloth diaper brands as an occasional treatment (1-2 times per month at the most) but check with the manufacturer of your diapers first, to ensure the use of this product will not void any warranty.
Price is for one (1) package of RLR treatment (1.35oz). Made in the USA
HOW TO USE RLR WITH YOUR CLOTH DIAPERS
To strip your diapers using RLR simply add it to a hot wash with no other laundry treatments (this includes detergents). Continue repeating hot washes until no bubbles or foam appears. When your water is clear then you have rinsed the RLR out!
RLR helps remove mineral deposits, dirt and detergent residue from fabric. It holds them in suspension in the water preventing them from being re-deposited and helping them to be rinsed away.
I used these to strip lots of preloved diapers that I purchased. After the strip, beach and washing the diapers smelt and felt wonderful. I'm hoping I don't need to do a strip process any time soon as I had a lot of diapers to do. It was not hard but it was time consuming. Next time I would wear gloves for sure as my hands were dry and irritated after doing the strip and bleach process twice in a row on separate diapers.
This has been a lifesaver! I have been dealing with terrible ammonia stink for a few months, so bad that the room smelled of it when my daughter was wearing a nighttime diaper especially. I had no clue what the problem could be. I had already done a conservative blue Dawn dish soap strip which barely helped. So my next step was RLR because I really didnt want to use bleach or hot water (I only wash with warm as per my Charlie Banana diapers specifications). I soaked 30 inserts at a time in my laundry sink with one pack of RLR in tap water over night. Then I rinsed each individually and then put through a regular wash day cycle with additional rinses until there were no suds. I did the same with my covers (they stank too!). And voila! No more stink! Even after my daughter wets them (well the nighttime diapers still smell subtly of ammonia, but nothing that hits me or burns my nose in the morning!). I was under the assumption that we have softer water here so I didnt think it was a detergent build up issue. Anyway, I actually think that maybe I was being too stingy with detergent? It has only been about a month, so it is too early to tell now, but I have been using more detergent now (line 1 of Tide powder detergent).
It is amazing what comes out of clean laundry! This stuff works amazing. Used it to strip 2nd hand and borrowed diapers.
Couldn't be easier! I added this packet to my toploader after the first rinse of my diaper washing routine with the amount of detergent I usually use. What a difference! My microfibre inserts went from dingy, off-white and leaking to looking and absorbing as good as new. I was so pleased with the results. Really couldn't have been easier.
It worked as advertised, I would repurchase if necessary.
