CHOOSE FLAT CLOTH DIAPERS IF: You’re looking for an inexpensive option that washes easy and sun dries quickly. Can be pinned or folded insert style into diaper covers. Also good for hand washing situations and emergency preparedness. OsoCozy Flat diapers are all 100% organic cotton and 1 layer thick.
Made of 100% organic unbleached birdseye weave cotton and sewn to dimensions of 27 x 30.5 inches. This sizing is designed so that the diapers shrink to a square of 26" per side. This facilitates easier folding.
These flats are versatile and reliable. We line dry all of our diaper laundry, and although they are not as soft as when they go through the dryer, they are still gentle on baby's skin. If you use a Pickman fold, you can just tuck the wings around baby's waist and secure with a cover, no need for a fastener. I use a hemp booster with these at night, but they are more than enough for a day time diaper by themselves.
I have decided to start my cloth diapering journey with just diaper covers and flats. These flats absorbs about a cup and a half of liquid which isn't too bad. I do add extra layers to extend the change time from every hour to two hours. It took about 5 washes to get it to not leak and it has become more absorbent with every wash. It shrinks and I find it works better trifolded or just in a simple triangle fold, than trying to do any of the other fancy folds. Poo stains washes out very well because it's a thin fabric.
So many uses for these and they wash up super clean and dry even faster. I used to wrap these on my baby with a snappi when he was younger, but the fabric eventually tore a bit, so I only use these as padfolds now. The fabric is a bit rough if you don't use the dryer, and if I could go back, I would probably just get the bamboo ones for the softness.
These have great absorbency. We also use these as burp cloths and have cut them up into cloth wipes.
I bought these mostly as a system for traveling, to save space and allow for handwashing and hanging to dry if necessary. But it turns out we use them all the time and they are my husband's favorite diapers. The material is pretty nice. I love how you can always make them fit well by changing the fold and play with the absorbancy. And they are a breeze to wash. We are actually getting more of these flats.
I purchased a couple of these flats to add to my stash, and I am so happy I did. They are a great size, and absorbency can be adjusted by folding and even adding a booster. I prefer the happy anteater fold for my heavy wetting girl and I add a hemp booster. Great with a wool cover!
Confession...I love flats! So the only reason I am giving these flats 4 stars is that I gave 5 stars to the OsoCozy bamboo cotton blend. These flats are slightly smaller, stiffer, and less absorbent. I actually measured the absorbency (flats were washed the 6 pre washes +++). Both were in the origami fold. The pad part of the fold felt wet at 50 mL on the cotton and at 75 mL on the bamboo/cotton. The whole flat (including folded sides) was wet at 150 mL on the cotton and at 200 mL on the bamboo/cotton. These cotton flats are also less expensive. They are still soft and wash up square, making them an excellent option!
We cloth diaper with no dryer and these are great! They wash up really well and hold their shape for easy folding. Not enough for a night diaper for my 20 lb/5.5 month-old anymore (they were find with a newborn) but they're still great during the day.
We use these almost exclusively, and not only as diapers but as burp cloths and blankets too. Soft cotton. Nice texture. Absorb lots. Hold up well through washing. And dry quickly.
